Internet status

We’d rather you hear about outages from us before they happen, not after. This page lists planned internet maintenance that may affect our home and business customers across Townsville and North Queensland, along with what to do if your connection plays up.

Planned maintenance

Upstream providers occasionally schedule maintenance to upgrade and repair the internet. Not every service in a listed area will be affected, and most work is scheduled overnight to keep disruption to a minimum.

Thu 22 Oct 2026, 12:00 am to 6:00 am AEST

Townsville and surrounding areas, Cairns and surrounding areas, Brisbane and Logan areas

Expected impact: Not every service in these areas will be affected. An outage isn't expected, but a short interruption is possible.

Times are in Queensland time (AEST). Providers sometimes change or cancel scheduled work at short notice, and we update this page as soon as we hear.

Steps if your internet doesn’t come back up

Internet not back after the maintenance window ends? Don’t worry. A quick restart usually sorts it.

  1. Give it 15 minutes after the maintenance window ends. Some connections take a little while to come back on their own.
  2. Check the power points are switched on and the cable between your modem and the wall (or NBN box) is pushed in firmly. Leave all other cables alone.
  3. Turn off your modem at the power point.
  4. Have a separate NBN box with its own power plug (usually white, on a wall or in a cupboard)? Turn that off at the power point too. If it has a battery backup unit, also press and hold that unit’s power button until its lights go off. No NBN box, or it isn’t plugged into a power point? That’s normal for some connections, so skip this step.
  5. Wait 30 seconds.
  6. Turn the NBN box back on first, if you have one, and wait about 5 minutes for its lights to settle. Pop the kettle on. If you have a dish or antenna on the roof (satellite or fixed wireless), allow up to 10 minutes.
  7. Then turn your modem back on and wait 5 minutes.
  8. Still not working? Check whether it’s every device or just one, then call us on 07 4401 5760 and tell us which lights are on and what colour they are. A real local person will help sort it out.

Please don’t:

  • Press the reset or pinhole button on the modem or NBN box. It wipes your internet settings, and you’ll be offline until we set it up again.
  • Unplug or bend the green or thin fibre cable, or unplug the TV-style cable or phone line from the wall.
  • Open the NBN box, or touch the dish or antenna outside.
  • Swap cables into different ports.

On business fibre, or your NBN box is in a locked building cupboard? Just restart your modem and give us a call.

Still feels slow?

Run a quick speed test. It takes about 30 seconds and gives us a clear picture of what’s happening. For the best result, test on a device plugged into your modem or sitting close to it.

Got a result that doesn’t look right? Pop the numbers into the ‘What’s happening?’ box in the form below and we’ll check it for you.

Check NBN’s own internet status

You can also check your address directly with NBN for faults and outages in your street.

We’d rather tell you before, not after

Not every provider gives you a heads up. We do, because looking out for you is the whole job. And a funny thing we hear a lot is “I didn’t know you did that!” So here’s the short version of what we look after:

  • Cyber security for your business, home and devices, so scammers and hackers have a much harder time getting in
  • Microsoft 365 email and email security
  • Cloud-hosted phone systems that work wherever you are
  • Computers and laptops, chosen, set up and ready to go
  • Internet and everyday IT support, at home or at work
  • Australian website hosting, with WordPress updates and care included

We look after small to medium businesses, professional offices and home users right across Townsville and North Queensland. One team, one number to call: 07 4401 5760.

Have we looked after you well?

If we’ve made your day a little easier, we’d be grateful if you shared your experience on Google. It takes about 30 seconds and helps other locals find a team who picks up the phone.
