Poker Machines in Tasmania Shut Down Following Ransomware Attack

by | Apr 15, 2021 | News & Updates

Poker machines at Tasmania’s two casinos have been shut down and have remained offline since the Easter weekend as a result of a cyber attack. The company – Federal Group – had to shut down machines at Hobart’s Wrest Point and the Country Club in Launceston following a cyber incident in the early hours of April 3 and confirmed on Tuesday that the attack involved ransomware. The attack has also affected their hotel booking system.

The company said that the initial attack itself had been contained due to the efforts of their staff and external efforts, and the Australian Cyber Security Centre was notified. They also said the attack is being thoroughly investigated by their team and external experts.
